Here it begins! Shi Hao’s journey to greatness will be a long and lonely road. At the end of the river of time, he can only look back with grief and sorrow but not regret because he didn’t do it for himself but for all the people he cares and loves. That is why SH is easily my favourite protagonist among all the Chinese novels I’ve read. He’s smart, funny, shameless, outrageous and even arrogant but his tenacity and altruism make up for all his lacking (and even that of the novel).
